| This is a impact crater that was formed by the impact of a large hard object that was ejected from the vent in a previous explosive event. The object that impacted has bounced away. The shape of the impact crater shows the object was directed toward the photographer, i.e. from the vent away to the top of the image. The crater has been masked by the recent ash. |
