Grandiose columns in the deepest central part of the quarry that are 28 or so metres in length.

These columns were a basis for a more detailed study, which is elaborated on in the following slides. A sample was taken at 1 m intervals from the bottom to the top of these columns, and they were analysed under the microscope (mineralogically) and by geochemistry (petrologically).
